There can be no other general confinement for Covid-19
Every time there is an increase in Covid-19 infections, there are people who request to go back and start confinements again.
But that no longer makes sense and I think it is not bearable from an economic point of view.
It is true that in the beginning of the disease, confinement was a success since there was a great ignorance about the causes, and furthermore the technical means to combat it were not available.
We went through very difficult months, the whole society suffered a lot and tens of thousands of people died in all countries.
The collateral consequences have been some very profound changes in our way of life and work, many ruined companies that will not raise their heads again, many people living in precarious situations, and quite afraid of what may happen in the months to come.
With the end of confinement and the return to the “new reality”, people protect themselves with masks on the street and in closed areas, and try to return to their “old” life as soon as possible. But life cannot be as before, because the necessary vaccines are not available to protect us from the virus.
And since the virus is still present around us, we must try to avoid it as best we can, and for this the most important thing is to be mentalized. But if the mentalization is not generalized, as it occurs in reality, gaps are opened through which contagions occur that can affect important parts of the population.
And the solution is not to lock ourselves in our houses again, because our economy cannot support it. Too many people already find themselves in a bad situation.
Today much more information is available on how to prevent and cure Covid-19, and if something happens you know how to act.
The important thing is that the least affected parties (who are the youngest) become mentalized and take the necessary protective measures so as not to infect themselves and not infect others.
Cases will continue to appear and we will have to react quickly so that the situation does not run wild. People need to work to live and keep the “wheel” rolling.
Another thing is that we learn from past experience and bet on a rapid change in our ways of living, as well as generating and consuming energy.
That change is very urgent and does not admit delay. We have a lot at stake.
